Smoke and ash are all that remain of this residence on Billy Goat Circle, after an early morning fire, on Dec. 28. No injuries were reported in the incident, which kept firefighters busy more than three hours.

An unoccupied residence on Billy Goat Circle, in the southwestern portion of White County, was destroyed by fire, on Dec. 28, despite quick response by firefighters but a nearby residence was saved during the early morning blaze.
According to Matt McBride with Central View Volunteer Fire Department, firefighters were dispatched, at approximately 3:20 a.m., and arrived in less than eight minutes to find the structure completely engulfed in flames.
McBride stated additional firefighters from Cassville, Doyle and Mt. Gilead volunteer fire departments provided mutual assistance because of the lack of manpower, the extent of the fire and the closeness of a nearby residence.
Cold temperatures also hampered firefighters, as tanker trucks were unable to maneuver because of the almost immediate freezing of water that was being shuttled to the scene.
County road workers responded to the scene to deliver salt and make it safe to continue the effort.
McBride said no one was injured during the incident.
He stated the cause of the blaze is unknown.
The incident is still under investigation.
