Firefighters from multiple departments and two different counties have been dispatched to a fully involved structure fire in the northern portion of White County.
At approximately 5:00 p.m., dispatchers with the White County E-911 Communications Center received notification of a possible structure fire near the Board Valley community in White County. Initial reports dispatchers received stated the structure fire was located on White Oak Flatt Road with flames visible by nearby residents.
Cherry Creek, NorthEnd, and Cassville volunteer fire departments were dispatched to the scene, including the White County Emergency Medical Services and the White County Sheriff Department. Additionally, given the close proximity to the county-line, Putnam County Fire Department was also dispatched to White Oak Flatt Road.
Upon arrival, emergency responders discovered that a residential structure was fully involved and had caught the nearby brush/tree line also on fire. Cherry Creek firefighters, first on the scene, established firefighting operations and began to attack the structure fire. Due to the remote location and the significantly narrow roadways, White Oak Flatt Road had to be closed while emergency-firefighting operations were underway.
Tankers from multiple fire departments including NorthEnd, Cherry Creek, and Putnam County were used to shuttle water to the scene as there were no nearby hydrants available.
The causes of the fire is unknown at this time and is currently under investigation.
