The time is here once again to begin packing shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child.
First Baptist Church Spencer has been collecting items all year to fill boxes for children ages 2-14. The boxes are shipped to more than 100 countries to children affected by war, poverty, natural disaster, famine, and disease, and to children living on Native American reservations in the United States. 2018 marks 25 years of packing shoeboxes, with 157 million boxes having been delivered.
Operation Christmas Child is a project of Samaritan’s Purse, an international relief organization. Their mission is to provide local partners (churches, schools, orphanages, etc.) around the world with shoeboxes filled with small toys, hygiene items, and school supplies as a means of reaching out to children in their own communities with the Good News of Jesus Christ. For more information, go to www.samaritanspurse.org/occ.
First Baptist Church Spencer is hosting a fundraising breakfast, on Oct. 20, 2018, at the fellowship hall, at 1021 Old Dunlap St., in Spencer. All proceeds from the breakfast go to support the Operation Christmas Child Ministry. Please come out and support this worthwhile ministry. Breakfast will be served 6-10:30 a.m. while supplies last.
