Franklin Baker Jr.

Franklin Baker Jr., 75, of Sparta, passed away Dec. 17, 2002.
Baker was born July 21, 1922, in White County, to Frank Hutchings and Minnie Margaret Baker.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Baker was preceded in death by his father; mother; step-father, Obe Petty; two daughters. Brenda Baker Phillips and Patty Baker; and one sister, Obeline Petty.
Survivors include his wife, Vivian Iris Garrett Baker of Sparta; two daughters and sons-in-law, Starr and John T. Toney and Susan Martin and Martin H. Barlow III all of Sparta; three sisters, Carolyn Mabe of Doyle, Linda Robinson of Sparta and Johnny Ruth Pitman of South Gate, Mich.; six grandchildren, Chris Phillips, Angela West, John Toney Jr., Renee Van Meter, Kelsea Richards and Zachary Barlow; and one great grandchild, Johnny.
Services were held at 11 a.m., Dec. 19, 2002, at Hunter Funeral Home with burial in Old Zion Cemetery. Rev. James McGill officiated.
Hunter Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
