Freshmen split at Warren County

    The White County High School freshman teams split their opening night games at Warren County Monday.
    The Warriorettes came away with the 37-17 victory while the Warriors were defeated 81-56.
    The first game of the night pitted the Warriorettes against the Lady Pioneers.  The Warriorette team is actually made up of the freshman and sophomore girls. 
    The Sparta squad jumped to a 5-0 lead after one quarter and built that advantage to 14-3 at the half.  By the time the end of the third quarter rolled around, their lead had expanded to 24-7.
    Lauren Bouldin led the Warriorettes on the night with nine points followed closely by Lacey Clark with eight.  Lauren McDowell and Sarah Wilhite tallied six each.  Mollie Abell and Kristen Howard added four each.  The Warriorettes hit five threes on the night.  Wilhite and McDowell hit two each.
    In the nightcap, the Warrior freshmen fell behind 17-8 after one quarter.  Warren County increased their advantage to 43-25 at the half.  After three quarters of play, the Pioneers led 69-42.
    Hampton Cunningham paced WCHS with 16 points followed by Drew Holland with 13 and Caleb Fuson with 11.  Travis Howard netted eight.  Bradley Barker and Jonathan Griffin chipped in with three each.  Tyler Rice rounded out the scoring with two points. 
    The freshmen/sophomore squads return to action Monday, December 1st when they host Lebanon.  The girls’ game is set for a 6 p.m. tip time.
