George “Skip” Alden Bruce III

George “Skip” Alden Bruce III, 57, formerly of Sparta, passed away unexpectedly, on Nov. 29, 2018, in Knoxville.

Mr. Bruce was born Jan. 30, 1961, in Stone Mountain, Georgia, to Clarice Lovell-Bruce and George Alden Bruce II.

He owned and operated Bruce’s Concrete, in Sparta, for 20 years and then worked as a production technician for Green Mountain Coffee Company.

He is lovingly survived by his sons, Robert Bruce, of Seattle, Washington, Michael Bruce, of Sparta; sisters, Karma Meck and husband Rob, of Sugarland, Texas, Candy Bruce, of Durham, North Carolina, Sherry Bruce, of Horn Lake, Mississippi; nieces, Alana Sims, of Mississippi, Kaelin and Kelsey Meck, of Texas; great-nephew, Alden Sims, of Mississippi; mother of his sons, Elizabeth Grodzki-Bergstrom, of Sparta; and many friends near and far.

The family has entrusted Hunter Funeral Home with Mr. Bruce’s final wish to be cremated.

A memorial service honoring him will be 6 p.m., Dec. 6, 2018, at Hunter Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 4-6 p.m., Dec. 6, at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest in Stone Mountain, Georgia, at a later date.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Hunter Funeral Home.
