Glen Irvin Carter, 84, passed away April 9, 2019, at Raintree Manor, in McMinnville.

Mr. Carter was born July 23, 1934, in Walling, to Charles Carter and Lola Fisher Carter.

He was a retired electrician and plumber.

Mr. Carter served his country as a sergeant in the U.S. Army.  He loved working outdoors and University of Tennessee football.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Marilyn Carter Morrison; sisters, Thelma Ann Carter, Zetella “Zelna” Carter; and  brothers, Vaughn Carter, Horace Carter, Donald Carter, Gene Carter, Ralph Carter.

Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Louise Felton Carter, of Walling; son, Michael Joe Carter, of Sparta; daughter, Tammy Carter Rutherford (Greg Clouse), of Walling; two sons, Glen “Skip” McCarthy, of Mississippi, Kevin McCarthy; grandchildren, Corgan Lee Carter, Cameron Carter, Caleb Carter, Brandon Williams, Joel Wooten, Aaron Wooten, Adam Wooten, Nick McCarthy, Kevin McCarthy, Jacob McCarthy; sisters, Leta Joyce Wigington, of Mt. Juliet, Betty Hughes, of Franklin, Melba Eads, Viola Biswick, both of Scottsboro, Indiana; and several great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Funeral service will be 1 p.m., April 13, 2019, at Hunter Funeral Home. Burial with military honors will follow in Mt. Pisgah Cemetery.

The family wishes to thank his special caregiver, Emy Wilhite; staffs of the Veterans Administration Hospital, Life Care, Raintree Manor, Caris Hospice, Avalon Hospice; and Dr. Gentry and his staff for all of their care and support.
