Weakness by definition is the state or condition of lacking strength. The origin of weakness can be traced all the way back to its Proto-Indo-European root of weik, “to bend.” What is your weakness Christian? What causes you hurt, doubt, bitterness, anger or commit an action that is wrong toward another or God? Your condition of weakness can cause you to avoid praying to God or associating with God’s people.
Be encouraged Christian, the help from Heaven rests inside of you. “In the same way the Spirit also helps our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we should, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words; and He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He intercedes for the saints according to the will of God. And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.” Romans 8:26-28
Amazing, The Holy Spirit groans or speaks on our behalf when our hurt is too deep for words! We are also told that God causes all things to work together for good. As Christians, we know that failures and weaknesses will affect us, but they do not have to define or destroy us. God can make all things, even your weaknesses, to work together for the good.
There was a 10-year-old boy that was born with one arm wanting to learn Judo. His mother was reluctant but allowed him. His master teacher taught him one move, and for seven months, that was the only move he was taught. The boy asked his master teacher why he was only teaching him one move? The master told him to learn this move, and he could be a champion. At age 11, he entered his first tournament with young men that had many years of experience, but one by one he beat them all to be the champion. His master then explained the move he had learned could only be stopped by grabbing the left arm; since the boy didn’t have one, they could not stop or defend themselves. The master helped him take his weakness and make it an advantage of strength.
Paul understood how the Lord can take a weakness and make it a strength. “7Because of the surpassing greatness of the revelations, for this reason, to keep me from exalting myself, there was given me a thorn in the flesh, a messenger of Satan to torment me—to keep me from exalting myself! 8Concerning this I implored the Lord three times that it might leave me. 9And He has said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness.” Most gladly, therefore, I will rather boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may dwell in me. 10Therefore I am well content with weaknesses, with insults, with distresses, with persecutions, with difficulties, for Christ’s sake; for when I am weak, then I am strong.” II Corinthians 12:7-10
The Master in heaven loves you, friend. Surrender your weakness to him today and allow him to help you heal, grow and become stronger. If you will practice faith and obedience according to His Word, then your weakness can become strong and God can make all things good in your life. God tells us in scripture when we lack faith to pray for more faith, and He will answer!
