Golf team wins inaugural CCHS 2018 Girls Open

The Warriorettes’ team of (L to R) Ansley Phifer, Makenzie Morton, and Morgan Quick won the inaugural CCHS 2018 Girls Open, on Thursday.

The White County High School Warriorettes Golf team traveled down to Druid Hills Golf Course in Crossville on Thursday afternoon.

The Warriorettes would come away with a first-place finish, winning the tournament by one stroke. The Warriorettes’ Makenzie Morton would also win the individual portion of the tournament. She would have to go to a playoff with Cumberland County’s Kelsey Neely, but Morton would pull out the win.

The Warriorettes won the tournament, with a team score of 181. Morton led the Warriorettes with an 87. Morgan Quick would finish her round with a 94. Ansley Phifer would also play and shoot a 99.

The Warriorettes would have another team in the tournament made up of Addi Selby, Maria Templeton, and McKenna Young. Selby shot a 110, Templeton finished with a 112, and Young rounded out the scoring with a 123.

Other teams in the tournament were, Bradley Central (192), Cumberland County (205), Cookeville (182), Livingston Academy (201), Walker Valley (213), and Soddy-Daisy (196).
