A Sparta woman who was charged with first-degree murder in the July 2018 death of her husband has had her case bound over the grand jury.

Patsy Hensley, 56, appeared before Judge Sam Benningfield, on Aug. 7, for a preliminary hearing to determine if there was enough evidence for the case to go to trial. Hensley was arrested July 1, 2018, in the shooting death of her husband, Mark Hensley, 54.

One witness, Special Agent Darrin Shockey, with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, was the only one who took the stand. In his testimony, he stated that Patsy Hensley had allegedly told officers she came home from her sister’s house and found her husband dead, only to change her story later.

After listening to the testimony, Benningfield found enough evidence to bind the case over to the grand jury.
