Howard V. Black

Howard V. Black, 65, of Sparta, formerly of Detroit, Mich. and Saluda N.C., passed away Dec. 15, 2001.
Black was born July 27, 1936, to Vernon H. Black and Elma Cain Black.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Judy C. Black.
Survivors include his wife, Janet Black; four daughters, Brenda Ripley of New Trenton Ind., Linda Laughter of Saluda N.C., Sharon Walden of East Flat Rock N.C. and Barbara Black of Columbus, N.C.; one son, Vernon Black of Florida; one step son, Robert Collins of Indiana; three brothers, Carson Black of Louisville, Ky. and Fred Black and Harvey Black both of Michigan; nine grandchildren; five step grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Services were held Dec. 21, 2001, at Thomas Shepherd and Son Funeral Directors in Hendersonville, N.C. with burial in Mountain Page Baptist Church Cemetery in Saluda, N.C.
