The White County Jail received a certificate, on Sept. 11, 2018, from the Tennessee Correctional Institute for the department’s efforts to meet the basic standards required for Tennessee jails. The Tennessee Correctional Institute is the state agency appointed by the Tennessee governor to oversee and set standards for all county jails.

“Due to the hard work of the White County correctional officers and jail administration, we met and surpassed all standards except being overcrowded, ” said Cami Howard, head of administration at White County Sheriff Department.
