James Charles “J.C.” Nash

James Charles “J.C.” Nash, 85, of Sparta passed away Jan. 5, 2019, at Life Care Center of Sparta.

Mr. Nash was born Aug. 19, 1933, in Sparta, to Brice Nash and Anna Lee Cole Nash.

He was a retired truck driver of 34 years for Thomas Industries and a farmer. He loved fishing and Atlanta Braves baseball. He was a longtime member of Bon Air Methodist Church and was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army.

Mr. Nash was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 55 years, Evelyn Prater Nash, whom he married Dec. 6, 1958; son, Terry Glynn Nash; great-grandson, Ryan White; brother, Arbie Nash; and sister-in-law Geneva Scott.

Survivors include two sons, Jerry Nash, of Atlanta, Georgia, Mike (Sandy) Fox, of Cookeville; granddaughter, Chrissy (Mark) White; grandson, J.J. Fox; great-grandson, Aaron White; brother, Donald (Carol) Nash; sisters, Waulene (Roy) Patton, Thelma (Horace) Prater,

brother-in-law, Clyde Scott; sisters-in-law, Barbara Nash, Glenda (Bill) Griffith; and several nieces, nephews, and numerous special friends.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Jan. 8, 2019, at Hunter Funeral Home, with burial in Oak Lawn Cemetery. Rodney Ritchie will officiate. Military honors will be presented by the Veterans’ Honor Guard.  The family will receive friends 5-8 p.m., Jan. 7, at the funeral home.

Mark White, Aaron White, Nathan Whittenburg, Nicholas    Whittenburg, Brandon Dillon, and Michael Wayne Prater will serve as pallbearers.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Hunter Funeral Home.
