Funeral service information updated June 13, 2018
James “Jimmy-J” Harold Johnson Jr., 57, of Sparta, transitioned to his forever home, on June 5, 2018 – a celebration of life for the kindest and sweetest man we have ever known!
Jimmy was born Dec. 21, 1960, in Sparta, to James Harold Johnson and Betty Davis Johnson.
He was preceded in death by his father, James Harold Johnson Sr., and his precious wife, Stephanie Schiotis Johnson, on March 10, 2015.
Jimmy was loved by everyone he encountered. He never knew a stranger. He recently lost his sweet Stefy and was never “home” anywhere since she left, until now. He loved his children and grandchildren more than anything in this world. He loved the word of God and shared it everywhere he roamed. He was a loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and friend. He was a beloved Babe Ruth coach and Sparta youth basketball coach to many boys and girls, in Sparta, and cherished those times. He loved everyone that he met and always wanted to help them in any way, even if it meant his last dollar or the shirt off his back.
Survivors include his mother, Betty Davis Johnson; daughter, Jessica Johnson Chism and husband Benjamin; son, James Harold Johnson III and girlfriend Stephanie Hubble; grandchildren, Ryder, Eleanor, Alaina, Paisleigh; brother, Joseph Johnson and wife Eileen; sisters, Alice Crabtree and husband Robert, B.K. Johnson and fiancé Jeff Maugeri; nephews, Aaron Johnson, Brian Bolster, Nick Anderson; nieces, Vanessa Blalock, Abigail Sherrell, Olivia Johnson, Amber Tosado, Brittney Johnson, Amanda Selby, Lacy Mapes; and several great-nephews, great-nieces, cousins, and friends all over the United States.
Graveside service will be 11 a.m., June 4, 2018, at Plainview Cemetery, in the Cassville community.
In lieu of flowers, an account will be set up at First National Bank, in Sparta, to help the family with expenses.
Thurman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
