James Richard Denton

James Richard Denton, 68, of Sparta, passed away May 7, 2018, at his residence.
Mr. Denton was born Oct. 19, 1949, in White County, to James Elmer Denton and Lena Mae Graham Denton.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Dorothy Marie Adcock.
Mr. Denton was a devoted truck driver.
Survivors include his wife, Gladys Faye Stacy Denton, of Sparta; Richie Edward (Marcella) Denton; daughter, Stacey Leona (James) Snodgrass; grandchildren, Alexis Russell, Todd Russell, Mercedes Mosley, Olivia Pelham, Kaylee Snodgrass, Cayd Snodgrass; great-grandchild, Brooklyn Addison; special daughter, Letitia Manus; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Funeral service will be at 11:30 a.m., May 12, 2018, at Hunter Funeral Home, with burial in Old Zion Cemetery. Sam Davis and Phillip Luna will officiate. The family will receive friends after 5 p.m. May 11, at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Phil Russell, Barry Colwell, Darryl Adcock, Chris Brown, Chad Bandy, Brandon Rice, Dillon Rice, Morgan Scott, Drew Scott, and Paul Welch.
Honorary pallbearers will be Lanny Cope and Gary Brown.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to Hunter Funeral Home for burial expenses.
Hunter Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
