James William McLean Jr.

James William McLean Jr., 87, passed from this life, on Oct. 27, 2017, at Saint Thomas Highlands Hospital, in Sparta, after a battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

Mr. McLean was born Sept. 29, 1930, in Palestine, Texas, the son of James W. McLean Sr. and Hazel Legg Farrell.

He was a loving father and husband. Mr. McLean retired from the U.S. Air Force with 25 years of service to his country. He also worked as a civil service employee for 20 years.

Mr. McLean was preceded in death by his parents; a son, James Farrell McLean; and a granddaughter, Lisa Baldwin.

Survivors include his wife, Hazel Pauline McLean, of Sparta; two daughters, Brenda Gale Lusk (Alvin), of Sparta, Sharon Anne Baldwin (David), of Fredericksburg, Virginia; daughter-in-law, Brenda Lee McLean, of Albany, Georgia; grandchildren, Kevin Harold Lusk, Dallas McLean Lusk, Dawn Weisenberger, Mary Baldwin, David Baldwin Jr., Jason McLean, Jessica Nicole Walton, Austin McLean; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be 3 p.m., Oct. 31, 2017, at Oak Lawn Funeral Home. Burial will take place Nov. 1, in Morgan, Georgia. Visitation with the family will be 1-3 p.m., Oct. 31, at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.

Oak Lawn Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
