Jason Lewis Automotive serves White County and customers across the entire United States

Jason Lewis was 24 years old with only $500 to his name when he got into the automobile business back in 1998.
“I began my career selling cars and trucks at East Tennessee Dodge, in Crossville,” he said. “From there it was on to a Nissan dealership in Frankfort, Kentucky, and then back to Crossville to work at Dave Kirk Chevy.”
After numerous requests, he returned to East Tennessee Dodge and managed that store from 2005 until 2014.
That’s when Bill Boruff Chrysler in Sparta went up for sale. Eager to move from managing a dealership to owning one, Lewis and a business partner jumped at the opportunity. Their partnership eventually dissolved, and Lewis became the sole owner in 2017. This past September, the name of the dealership was officially changed to Jason Lewis Automotive.
“We pride ourselves on competitive pricing and a huge and diverse selection of automobiles and trucks,” Lewis said. “Nobody in the Upper Cumberland has an inventory even close to what we have here on 19 acres, in Sparta. Typically, we have 250 new Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, and Ram vehicles on the lot and more than 300 pre-owned vehicles in a variety of makes and models, both foreign and domestic. We have a large number and variety of trucks, including diesel and specialty trucks, on our lot at any given time. Customers come from all over Tennessee and the Southeast to shop our expansive inventory, all of which can be viewed online. And we recently sold cars to three customers from California.”
For Lewis, customer service is just as important as selection and price.
“Many dealerships say that the customer is Number One, but that’s often just lip service,” Lewis said. “Here at Jason Lewis Automotive, we don’t want somebody to buy a car on Friday and be back here Monday complaining about it. I’ve spent almost 20 years observing what not to do when selling cars and trucks. I understand that one dissatisfied customer can spread negative feedback to countless other potential customers. We’re committed to making our customers 100 percent happy that they bought their vehicle from us.”
For Lewis, that means being a hands-on owner.
“My parents taught me the value of hard work,” he said. “We’re open six days a week, and I’m here six days a week to make sure things are done right.”
In the three years that have passed since he bought the dealership, Lewis has almost doubled his number of employees.
“We started with 35 employees,” he said. “That number has grown to 65, which includes those who work at my pre-owned vehicles stores in Dayton and Jamestown, Tennessee.”
And the average number of vehicles sold every month has risen exponentially.
“When I came to Sparta, we were selling between 40 and 60 vehicles each month,” Lewis said. “That number now hovers around 180 per month. This is gratifying to me personally, of course, but I’m also thrilled that it’s been a shot in the arm to sales tax revenue in White County.”
Lewis is proud of the contribution his dealership has made to the community.
“We feel like we’ve partnered with White County in a number of ways,” he said. “We’re involved with ‘Shop with a Cop’ and other programs that help local kids have a good Christmas. And we’re members of the Sparta-White County Chamber of Commerce.”
The sales department at Jason Lewis Automotive is open 8:30 a.m.-7 p.m., Monday-Saturday. The service department, which performs maintenance and repairs on most makes and models of vehicles, is open 7:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m., Monday-Friday.
