Jerry Wayne Wilson, 67, of Sparta, formerly of Cedar Lake, Indiana, passed away Oct. 29, 2016, at Erlanger Hospital, in Chattanooga.
Mr. Wilson was born June 1, 1949, in Fackler, Alabama, to George Roy Wilson and Mary Francis Jernigan Wilson.
He was a retired crane operator for Apex Steel and Supply and a member of the Apostolic Life United Pentecostal Church.
Mr. Wilson loved spending time with family and friends, watching John Wayne westerns and playing cards, but mostly he enjoyed swinging in his porch swing or tinkering in his workshop. He never met a stranger and will be forever truly loved and missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents; six brothers, Marshall, Charles, Willard Sr., Jimmie Sr., Herman Sr. and John; and two sisters, Jess Lou Wilson Connors and Annia Fay Wilson McIntire.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Sylvia Ann Ragan Wilson, of Sparta; daughter, Angela Sue Kirby and husband Dennis, of Sparta; grandson, Wayne Lee Kirby, of Sparta; two brothers, Dennis Wilson, of Pisgah, Alabama, Donald Wilson, of Scottsboro, Alabama; sister, Janice McIntire, of Dutton, Alabama; and many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m., Nov. 3, 2016, at Apostolic Life United Pentecostal Church, with burial in Old Zion Cemetery. The family will receive friends 2-8 p.m., Nov. 2, at the church. Kip Simar will officiate.
Willard “Murf” Wilson Jr., Jimmie “Tink” Wilson Jr., David McIntire, Herman Wilson Jr., William Friedericks and Brandon Ragan will serve as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hunter Funeral Home, P.O. Box 90, Sparta, Tennessee 38583 to help the Wilson family with funeral expenses.
