The Komen BigWig Campaign will launch June 1 in the Komen Central Tennessee affiliate. Local celebrities, business owners, Chamber officials, and corporate community leaders have volunteered to don the Big Pink Wig for Komen. This social media campaign will continue till the end of June. All BigWigs have set goals to help us end breast cancer forever.
What is a BigWig? BigWig [ˈbigˌwig] (noun): an important person, usually in a particular sphere; synonym: VIP · (very) important person
Komen BigWig (noun): a very important person on a mission to end breast cancer forever by raising awareness and funds in their community; willing to have fun while wearing a ridiculous pink wig
Susan G. Komen has a Big Bold Goal of reducing breast cancer deaths by 50 percent in the U.S. by 2026. That goal can be met by finding breast cancer earlier through outreach and education of the importance of getting mammograms. Up to 75 percent of monies raised by these BigWigs stay in the region with 25% going to fund Komen research grants to help find cures and better treatments for breast cancer.
Our Komen More Than Pink BigWigs are asking you to help Komen fund that Big Bold Goal. Make a difference in June. Support a Local BigWig. Announcement of BigWigs 2018 will follow in the next weeks.
