Lee Alan Vickers

Lee Alan Vickers, 71, of Sparta, passed away peacefully, on Aug. 27, 2018, at Wyndridge Health and Rehabilitation Center, in Crossville, after a hard-fought battle with brain cancer.

Mr. Vickers was born Oct. 31, 1946, to Marjorie A. Knodle Vickers and Donald N. Vickers.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, having served honorably in Vietnam. He was a design engineer for many years with Bucyrus. He was a brother knight in the Knights of Columbus, Council 14902. He was also a member of the Sparta Garden Club.

Mr. Vickers was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Mary Sterling.

He is survived by his two daughters, Aimee Watson, of Camden, South Carolina, Leann Earnest of Altus, Oklahoma; two grandchildren; two grandchildren; three sisters, Ellen (Richard) Scott, of North Aurora, Illinois, Suzan (Jay) Brown, of Memphis; Peggy Latchford, of DePue, Illinois; many nieces and nephews; and his best friend 60 years, Sherry Hickey, of Sparta.

Family and friends are invited to a memorial service, on Sept. 3, 2018, at St. Andrew Catholic Church, 829 Valley View Drive, in Sparta. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m., and a memorial mass will be at 11 a.m. Lunch will follow.

Donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or to St. Andrew Church.

Oak Lawn Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
