Leland C. “L.C.” Kell

Leland C. “L.C.” Kell, 87, a resident of the Sparkman community and Van Buren County native, passed away April 15, 2018, at NHC Healthcare of Sparta, following an extended illness.

Mr. Kell was born Oct. 31, 1930. He was the son of John Bates Kell and Tere Mary Johnson Kell.

He was a United States Navy veteran of Korea, self-employed farmer, and a member of the Baptist Church.

Mr. Kell was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Rebecca Sparkman Kell; and siblings, Merle Kell, Ernistina Kell, Brownie Kell, Wayne P. Kell, and Billy C. Kell.

Survivors include his daughter, Jo Ann Kell, of the Sparkman community; son and daughter-in-law, David and Rose Kell, of the Sparkman community; two sisters-in-law, Grace Kell, of Rock Island, Reda Kell, of McMinnville; nephew and spouse, Tommy and Glenda Kell, of McMinnville; and nieces and spouses, Sonia Wilson, of McMinnville, Judy and Chris Alexander, of Nashville, and Melissa and Jeremy Campbell, of Rock Island.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m., April 18, 2018, at High Funeral Home, in McMinnville. Gene Brock will officiate. Burial will follow in Mt. View Cemetery, with military grave rites conducted by VFW Post 5064 and American Legion Post 173. Visitation will be 4-9 p.m., April 17, and noon-2 p.m., April 18, at the funeral home.

High Funeral Home, in McMinnville, is in charge of arrangements.
