Lester Leon Cook, 83, of Sparta, passed away June 28, 2014, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Cook was born April 15, 1931, in Bristol, Tennessee, the son of the John Cook and Mattie Fauver Cook.
He served in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of the Korean Conflict.
Mr. Cook was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Kermit Cook; and a sister, Clara Craig.
Survivors include three daughters, Sharon Geiger and husband Dan, Susie Hagy, all of Bristol, Tennessee, Chevie Warren, of Sparta; son, John Lester Cook, of Cocoa, Florida; sisters, Christine Lory and husband Chuck, of McEwen, Dorcas Rosenbalm and husband Stanley, of Blountville, Deborah Cornett and husband Jesse, of Cunningham, Marie Henson, of Blountville,
Alice Hunsucker and husband David, of Blountville; brothers, John Hazen Jr., of Blountville, Douglas Cook and wife Jessie, of Oak Ridge, Roy Cook and wife Roberta, of Bulls Gap, Dan Cook and wife Laura of Oak Ridge, Rufus G. Cook and wife Mary, of Sparta, David Cook and wife Charlotte, of Blountville, Tommy Cook and wife Connie, of Bristol, Virginia, Calvin Cook and wife Donna of Bristol, Tennessee; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces nephews, friends and neighbors.
Funeral services will 1 p.m., July 1, 2014, at Oak Lawn Funeral Home, with burial in Oak Lawn Cemetery. Military honors will be presented by the Veterans’ Honor Guard. David Lee England will officiate. Visitation with the family will be 11 a.m.-1 p.m., July 1, at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Oak Lawn Funeral Home to help with funeral expenses.
