Mardelle Saxsma Fattig

Mardelle Saxsma Fattig, 91, of Sparta, passed away Feb. 24, 2018, at Life Care Center of Sparta.
Mrs. Fattig was born May 20, 1926, in Harvey, Illinois, to Raymond Saxsma and Rachel Katherine Jones Saxsma.
She and her husband, John Elvin Fattig Jr., were married in 1945, thus celebrating 72-1/2 years of marriage, living most of their lives in Harvey, Illinois. After retiring from work at Ingalls Hospital as an x-ray and nuclear medicine technician 36 years ago, Mrs. Fattig traveled and moved several times with her husband. They settled in Tennessee about 20 years ago, living in Sparta, and most recently at Life Care Center of Sparta.
Mrs. Fattig will be interred at the Veterans’ National Cemetery, in Chattanooga.
Survivors include her husband of 72-1/2 years, John E. Fattig Jr., of Sparta; son, John E. Fattig III, of Cupertino, California;
daughter, Lana Freeburg and husband Quentin, of Plymouth, Minnesota; and grandchildren and their families, Jessica Kauffman and husband Tim, of Plymouth, Minnesota, and Kathryn, Melissa, and Nathan – Angela Willoughby and husband Rob, of Tallinn, Estonia, and RoseLynn, Ryland, Abigail, and Andrew – John Freeburg and Katy Koivisto, of Burnsville, Minnesota, and Aurora and Henson.
