Mary Louise Klein Evans, 84, of Sparta, passed away Sept. 29, 2016, at NHC Healthcare of Sparta.
Mrs. Evans was born April 17, 1932, in White County, to Merrill Jackson Klein and Louise Cantrell Klein.
After working at the Sparta Shirt Factory, she then operated her own beauty shop for several years. Later, another career change led her to LBJ&C where she was a teacher and supervisor for 30 years. While Mrs. Evans had a work career outside the home, she was always a dedicated homemaker, caring for her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed keeping them well fed and watching westerns with her son-in-law. She was a member of the Church of Christ and attended Bethlehem Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 68 years, William “Bill” F. Evans; and sister, Joyce Cantrell.
Survivors include her children and their spouses, Melody Evans Faulkner and husband Lee Faulkner, Terrell Evans and wife Sandy Evans; grandchildren and their spouses, Jay and Ruth Faulkner, Misty and Stan Hawkins, Jessica and Michael Russell; great-grandchildren, Bo Faulkner, Chelsey Faulkner, Noble Hawkins, Zane Hawkins; great-great granddaughter, Raylee Jade Carter; three brothers, Billy Klein and wife Sue Klein, Mickey Klein and wife Judy Klein, Jim Klein and wife Shirley Klein; two sisters, Dorothy Whitson, Judy Primm; and brother-in-law, T.L. Evans
Funeral service will be 2 p.m., Oct. 2, 2016, at Hunter Funeral Home, with burial in Highland Cemetery. Terry Jolley will officiate. The family will receive friends noon-2 p.m., Oct. 2, at the funeral home.
Barry Faulkner, Bo Faulkner, Noble Hawkins, Zane Hawkins, Will Trute, Tony Whitson, Barry Klein, Jackie Klein and Michael Russell will serve as pallbearers.
The family would like to express a special thank you to the nursing staff at NHC Healthcare of Sparta and to Sandra Gilbert.
