Merle Jackson, 79, passed away Oct. 1, 2018, at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Jackson was born April 26, 1939, in Brotherton, to Herman Clay Jackson and Maudie Jones Jackson.
He enjoyed riding his motorcycle. He also loved antique cars, dancing, and spending time with his family.
Mr. Jackson was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Velma Jackson; and a sister, Paunee Price.
His family includes two daughters and sons-in-law, Lu-Wanna and Tommy Baggett, of Louisville, Kentucky, Tammy and Richard Alverson, of Lake Mary, Florida; one brother, Jim Tom Jackson, of Logansport, Indiana; 13 grandchildren, Nick Hargrove, Michelle Alverson, Jason Alverson, C.J. Simpson, James Farley Baggett, Kati Baggett, Brittany Gary, Ashley Williams, Charles Norris, Lanae Usie, Michael Usie, Matt Norris, Traeson Usie; and 19 great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m., Oct. 4, 2018, at Oak Lawn Funeral Home, with burial in Old Zion Cemetery. Earl Alverson will officiate. The family will receive friends 11 a.m.-1 p.m., Oct. 4, at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be sent to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
Oak Lawn Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
