A long time Sparta based manufacturing facility is undergoing its second ownership change this year.

Earlier this year, it was announced that a proposed deal was being finalized between the Moore Company and SeaStar Solutions Inc. for the purchase of Moeller Marine. The sale of Moeller Marine, which is located at 801 N. Spring St., was finalized as evident with the change in the signage located on the Moeller Marine manufacturing facility, in Sparta.

SeaStar Solutions, which is a leading supplier of marine steering and control systems, fuel systems, engine parts, and related products, announced that it had successfully acquired Moeller Marine Products, the Sparta-based manufacturer of rotationally molded plastic products. Moeller, who recently celebrated its 27th anniversary, has established itself as one of the largest roto-molders in the marine industry.

While being well known for their marine based fuel tanks, Moeller manufactures a wide range of roto-molded products for boat builders and boaters alike, including motor flushers, seating, live wells, waste and water tanks, and engine paints.

However, with the new ownership of Moeller Marine, now known as SeaStar Solutions, by American Securities LLC less than a year ago, a recent announcement was made that American Securities has entered into an agreement to sell SeaStar Solutions. Dometic Group has agreed to pay approximately $875 million to purchase SeaStar Solutions from American Securities.

Dometic Group manufactures and supplies mobile leisure products for recreational vehicles, marine vehicles, and commercial and passenger vehicles. The Sweden based international corporation expects to close on the acquisition of SeaStart Solutions by the end of 2017.

According to president and CEO of Dometic Group, Roger Johansson, β€œ I am truly excited about the opportunities to accelerate our combined leadership positions in the marine market and leverage the strength as a combined company. Our companies already share some customers and business partners, and we intend to enhance and expand present and new essential relationships.”

SeaStar Solutions, formerly Moeller Marine, will continue to operate out of its Sparta manufacturing headquarters.

Johansson added in his statement, β€œFor the foreseeable future, it is business as usual.”
