Myrtle Lorene Kirby, 77, of Sparta, passed away March 30, 2009, at White County Community Hospital.
Mrs. Kirby was born May 5, 1931, in White County, to Harm Martin and Nannie Mae Stacy Rich.
She had been a homemaker.
Mrs. Kirby was preceded in death by her parents and one son, Gary Kirby.
Survivors include her husband, Verlon Kirby, of Sparta; four sons and their wives, Danny and Gail Kirby, Randall and Susan Kirby, Tracy and Janet Kirby, all of Sparta, Mike and Shirley Kirby, of Cookeville; daughter-in-law, Evelyn Kirby, of Sparta; four brothers and their wives, John and Sylvia Savage, Earl and Linda Rich, all of Smyrna, James and Vixie Rich, of Madison, Johnny Rich, of Sparta; two sisters, Janie Minnear and husband James, Edwina Nash, all of Sparta; 10 grandchildren, Melissa James, Jennifer, Shane, Greg, Brian, Lindsay, Matthew, Tisha, Trey Kirby, Jay Massa; and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m., April 2, 2009, at BonDeCroft Baptist Church, with burial in New Bon Air Cemetery. The family will receive friends after 6 p.m., April 1, at Hunter Funeral Home, and 9-11 a.m., April 2, at the church, Toni Fleenor will officiate. Matthew Kirby, Greg Kirby, Brian Kirby, Matt McClain and Von Bray will serve as pallbearers.
