Name released from Washington Street death investigation

The name of a deceased individual that was found by White County Sheriff deputies at a residence located on Washington Street has been released by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.

According to Susan Niland, TBI Spokeswoman, the individual found deceased during a welfare check yesterday, March 8, has been identified as 50-year-old Timothy Jordi.

As previously reported, on Thursday, March 8, at approximately 2:30 pm, The Expositor was notified that White County Sheriff deputies and agents with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation were located at a residential property on Washington Street in the Mt. Vernon Subdivision.

According to Bryant Dunaway, 13th Judicial District Attorney General, detectives and deputies with the White County Sheriff’s Department, along with special agents from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, were on the scene conducting a death investigation. Limited information has since been released regarding this investigation.

Neighbors have confirmed that detectives with the White County Sheriff’s Department have gone to various homes within the Mt. Vernon Subdivision asking questions regarding this incident.

Dunaway stated that an autopsy was being performed to determine the cause of death of the deceased individual.

On March 8, at approximately 7:00 p.m., a statement was released by TBI Spokeswoman Susan Niland.

“On Thursday, at the request of 13th Judicial District Attorney General Bryant Dunaway, TBI Special Agents began investigating a death that occurred at the 700 block of Washington St in Sparta.

“Earlier the same date, Sparta Central Dispatch (White County E-911 Communications Center) received a request to check the welfare of an individual after he failed to arrive at work and was unable to be contacted by telephone.” Stated Niland. “White County Sheriff’s Deputies investigated and found the victim deceased inside of his residence.”

“An autopsy will be performed on the body to determine cause of death.” Confirmed Niland.

On March 9, at approximately 11:21 a.m., TBI Spokeswoman Niland confirmed that Jordi was the individual found deceased at the Washington Street home.

Niland added, “The investigation remains ongoing; we don’t have any additional details to provide at this stage.”

Additional information regarding this investigation will be posted on SpartaLive/The Expositor as soon as they are released by the District Attorney General’s Office or the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.
