Welcome Home, a new home décor shop owned by Kim Carr, recently opened at 650 Roosevelt Dr., and a grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony was held Aug. 29.

“My goal is to provide affordable, cute décor,” Carr said, indicating her shop leans toward country and primitive décor but also supplies a place for local artisans to showcase and sell their hand-crafted items such as wreaths, furniture, quilts, and jewelry.

“Of course, if you are looking for something in particular, I will do my best to try to find it for you,” Carr said. “Each time you come visit, I will have different things. There is always something different and unique in here.”

Welcome Home will also stock a seven-layer-poured candle, which comes with a 100 percent recyclable jar. Carr said that for every lid that customers can bring the lid back in clean, reusable state, they will get a $1 in-store credit.

Carr, who was born in White County but whose family moved to Michigan when she was just 5 years old, said t the idea for the name for her store came from her recent return to Sparta.

“I’m back home now, and it feels so good,” she said. I’m just happy to be here.”
