WCHS put a doubles teams in the semifinals in both boys and girls and also had an individual advance to the singles semifinals, but it all came to an end there for each.
Crockett Sewell, a junior, was looking to try and make it two trips in a row to the region, but came up one win short.
Sewell opened play Monday with a pair of quick wins in his first two matches. He defeated Matt Johnson from Coffee County in his opener and then rolled to a pair of 6-0 wins over Cookeville’s Austin Hill in the next round earning a spot in the semifinals.
In Tuesday’s semifinal match, Sewell was matched up against the top singles seed, Lee Presser, from Cumberland County. Pressor won the match and a trip to the region.
The doubles team of Jonathan Griffin and Caleb Winton also advanced to the semifinals. They opened with a dominating win over Patton/Elam from Coffee County and followed that with a quarterfinal win over Tran/Crawford from Cumberland County. They, however, were matched up against the second seeded tandem of Locke/Grissom from Warren County in the semifinals and were eliminated (6-3, 6-3).
The other semifinal participant for WCHS was the girls’ doubles duo of Hailey Roberts and Lacee Hitchcock. The Sparta duo took Moore/Wilder (Coffee County) to a third set and picked up the opening round win. They then defeated Oxley/Kiser (Warren) in the quarterfinals advancing to Tuesday’s semifinals. They were defeated by Lloyd/Little (Cookeville), the top seed.

The Warriorettes finished third and will take on second seeded, Warren County. That match will also be at 2 p.m.
