At approximately 12:30 p.m., Sunday, August 12, emergency personnel were called to the scene of 482 Josh Brown Road to assist with a rescue. One woman and two children in a kayak and a raft ran into rough waters, turning over into Cane Creek.

“They were attempting to raft the river, they came into some heavier water,” says Captain Houston Austin with the Northend Fire Department. “We had to rescue a mother and two children, I’m not sure what the ages of the children are but they were rescued successfully.”

Houston stated that none of the boaters were hurt and they were reunited with their family.
