One killed after vehicle ran off Highway 111

First responders were dispatched to the scene of a vehicle that ran off the roadway and landed in a creek, which resulted in a fatality.
At approximately 6:39 a.m., on Sept. 29, dispatchers with White County E-911 received a call about a vehicle that reportedly ran off Highway 111.
The Sparta-White County Rescue Squad, NorthEnd Volunteer Fire Department, White County Sheriff Department, White County Emergency Medical Service, and the Tennessee Highway Patrol were dispatched to the scene.
Upon arrival, emergency responders discovered that a silver 1999 Mercedes SUV had left the roadway and landed in a creek near an overpass. The incident occurred on Highway 111 southbound near the Hampton’s Crossroads exit.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol is in charge of the investigation.
According to the THP, the driver of the vehicle, 73-year-old Jim Dakouvanos was declared deceased at the scene. The incident report stated that Dakouvanos was not wearing his seatbelt.
The cause of this incident is still under investigation, according to the Tennessee Highway Patrol.
