Senior Companions, of Van Buren County, will be hosting a fundraising dinner and auction, on Saturday, Oct. 6, at the Burritt College building. Meals will be served beginning at 4 p.m., with auction beginning at 6 p.m. Entertainment will be provided by The Agees. (Vegetable soup or chili, crackers or cornbread, dessert, and drink, $5; hot dogs, $1.50; chili dogs, $3; desserts, $1.50; chips, 50 cents; drinks, $1; coffee, 50 cents)

Tennessee National Guard helicopters arrive in North Carolina for Hurricane Florence Support

Three Blackhawk helicopters from the Tennessee National Guard’s 1-230th Assault Helicopter Battalion arrived in North Carolina late yesterday to assist in the relief effort of Hurricane Florence. All three aircraft are equipped to conduct medical evacuation with rescue hoist capability, as well as transport medical patients, and supplies to those in remote areas.
