Paul Ernest “Shorty” Howard

Paul Ernest “Shorty” Howard, 81, of Sparta, passed away Dec. 5, 2017, at his residence.
Mr. Howard was born Nov. 26, 1936, in White County, to Ernest Porter Howard and Beulah England Howard.
He was a well-known carpenter and started his career at an early age due to the illness of his father. Homes he built can be found all over the Upper Cumberland.
Mr. Howard attended the Shiloh Church of God of the Prophecy.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Margaret Tidwell, and her husband Leon.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Marie Adcock Howard, of Sparta; two sons, Paul Douglas (Tricia) Howard, of Sparta, Timothy Dewayne (Pamela Lee) Howard, of Sparta; daughter, Anna Howard (Burt) Randolph; grandchildren, Jessica (Casey) Lemons, Rachel Lee-Ann (Joey) Sheets; sister, Jane Pigmon; great-grandson, Mason Sheets; two brothers, Ralph (Sue) Howard, Gary (Marilee) Howard; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m., Dec. 8, 2017, at Hunter Funeral Home, with burial in Robinson Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends 5-8 p.m., Dec. 7, at the funeral home. David Lee England and Chad Bagley will officiate.
Cameron Howard, Joshua Howard, Kenneth Whiteaker, Max Jared, Rob Howard, Jonathan Howard, Lee Hitchcock, and Joe Howard will serve as pallbearers.
