Pauline Burton Kirby, 90, of Cookeville, passed away Sept. 5, 2018, at her daughter’s residence.
Mrs. Kirby was born Feb. 8, 1928, in Jackson County, the daughter of Lem Burton and Mandy Minnear Burton.
She was the wife of Arthur Kirby, a World War II veteran.
Mrs. Kirby was a longtime member of Willow Avenue Church of Christ, in Cookeville. She loved her family, especially her two grandchildren and five great-grandsons who called her Granny D. She lived long enough to see her great-great granddaughter be born, on Aug. 29, 2018.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; brothers, Jeff, Paul, and Ralph Burton; sister, Ellen Benward; and son-in-law Byrd Bumbalough.
Survivors include her daughter, Martha Kirby Bumbalough; granddaughter, Juli Johnson and husband Jason; grandson, Kirk Bumbalough and wife Tina; great-grandsons, Dylan Bumbalough, Tanner Bumbalough, Rylan Bumbalough, Grayson Johnson, Garrett Johnson; great-great-granddaughter, Cali Grayce Johnson; brother, Fred Burton and wife Phyllis; and sister, Betty Tinch.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m., Sept. 9, 2018, at Hunter Funeral Home, with burial in Crest Lawn Cemetery, in Cookeville. The family will receive friends 11 a.m-2 p.m., Sept. 9, at the funeral home. Clarence Deloach will officiate the service with grandsons Grayson Johnson and Dylan Bumbalough.
Mrs. Kirby’s grandsons and great-grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
