Philip Hansel Franklin

Philip Hansel Franklin, 89, of Sparta, passed Oct. 25, 2013, NHC Healthcare of Sparta.
Mr. Franklin was born Feb. 12, 1923, in Marshall County, to William Floyd and Gladys Porter Franklin.
He was a retired meat salesman, avid golfer and longtime member of the Sparta Country Club.
Mr. Franklin was preceded in death by his parents and his wife of more than 69 years, Mary Todd Jackson Franklin/
Survivors include his two sons, Bill Franklin and wife Elaine, of Baxter, Jack Franklin and wife Susan, of Sparta; five grandchildren and spouses, Jack Kyle and Laura Franklin, Kristina and Mike Orsega, Lauren and Justin Roper, Philip-Todd and Rachelle Franklin, Sherrell Lynn and Doug Johnson; 10 great-grandchildren; and sister, Rebecca Stockman.
Funeral service was 2 p.m., Oct. 28, 2013, at Hunter Funeral Home, with burial in Highland Cemetery. Rich Morgan officiated.
Ed Metcalf, Mike Orsega, Jack Kyle Franklin, Justin Roper, Jordan Johnson and Alex Sevenson served as pallbearers.
Hunter Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
