Red Turner’s sweeps Little League boys’ titles

Red Turner’s Sporting Goods’ baseball team captured both the regular season and City Tournament titles in the Little League baseball 11/12 year old division.
The final portion of the sweep came Saturday night when they shut out Hunter Funeral Home in the tournament championship game by a score of 5-0. Turner’s ended the season with a record of 14-2. Hunter’s finished the year 10-7.
Matt McCulley got the start on the mound and picked up the shut out win. He struck out 14 batters, allowed two hits and walked two.
Kendall Barker and Dylan Bumbalough had the lone hits of the game for Hunter’s. Hayden Farris and Justin Collins took walks.
The game was scoreless until the bottom of the third when Red Turner’s put four of their five runs on the board. J.J. Baksa led the inning off with a single. McCulley, Isaiah Temple and John Hughes all followed with hits and accounted for the four runs. T.J. Seby also had an RBI.
Turner’s added one more run in the fourth when Baksa singled and scored on a Kyler Allen hit.
Macon Girdley suffered the loss on the mound for Hunter’s.
Red Turner’s advanced to the finals with a semifinal win over Bill Boruff. Hunter’s defeated Custom Tool 5-3 in the semifinals.
