Rev. John Dempsy Norris

Rev. John Dempsy Norris, 82, of Cookeville, passed away Nov. 22, 2002.
Norris was born Dec. 18, 1919, in Algood, to Lowery D. and Scytha Stockton Norris.
He had been a minister over 48 years.
Norris also served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a carpenter. He appeared on the Christian Gospel Hour on WHUB Radio Station, in Cookeville, over 20 years.
Norris was preceded in death by one son-in-law, David Moore; one sister, Katie Law; and two brothers, Dennis Norris and Carl Norris.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret Ethel Sullivan Norris of Cookeville; one daughter, Virginia Moore of Cookeville; grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Jeff and Cindy Moore of Cookeville; two sisters, Juanita Norris of Algood and Zella Hunsicker of Hazel Park, Mich.; one great granddaughter, Tiffany Moore of Cookeville; and several nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews.
Services were held at 2 p.m., Nov. 24, 2002, at the chapel of Whitson Funeral home with burial in Crest Lawn Memorial Gardens. Dr. Harold Hunter and Bro. Harlon Johnson officiated.
Whitson Funeral Home in Cookeville was in charge of arrangements.
