Rotary Club of Sparta’s 2nd Annual Valentine Dinner and Dance for Literacy is Feb. 14, 2019, at Duck Pond Manor, in Sparta.
There will be a silent auction before dinner while popular local musicians Sarah Merritt and family entertain during dinner. Following dinner there will be DJ music and dancing.
Silent auction items available for bids include a full day at local spas, therapeutic massage, wine, foods, art, and other items. Local businesses generously support Rotary Club of Sparta Literacy projects.
Susan Kirby, Valentine event chair, said Rotary Club of Sparta is excited “to show our commitment to the community by emphasizing literacy for children and adults.
“The fun begins at 6 p.m., but the silent auction opens 5:45 p.m.,” said Kirby. Please make plans to attend what promises to be the ‘sold-out’ social event of the season.”
One of Rotary International’s Area of Focus is literacy and education. More than 775 million people over the age of 15 are illiterate. That’s 17 percent of the world’s adult population. Rotary Club of Sparta supports education for all children and literacy for children and adults. All funds raised for the Valentine Literacy event stay in the community.
“Your generous donation buying a ticket and supporting the silent auction may help someone in Sparta learn to read,” said Cathy Farley, Rotary president 2018-2019,
Farley and Kirby issued a joint statement, “One of the Rotary Club’s goals is to help families with literacy skills by raising funds to continue our Family Literacy Project. We hope the community will support our fundraising event and have a fun time in the process.”
Tickets are $50 for two people, which includes a buffet dinner. All Rotarians have tickets. Contact Cathy Farley, Julie Cheek Anderson, Steve Ware, or Susan Kirby on Facebook. Visit Rotary’s Facebook Event Page for more information by clicking here.
