Ruth Dorlous Moses Davis, 91, passed away peacefully, on Jan. 29, 2019, surrounded by family.

She was born Nov. 17 1927.

Growing up in the Appalachian hills, she had a strong bond with her parents and seven siblings. She continued throughout her adult life to maintain significant ties with her native home place and requested her final resting place be in the family section of Whitley Memorial Gardens, in Williamsburg, Kentucky.

Over time, as her health declined, she outlined in detail how she wanted events to proceed at her passing. She specified there was not to be traditional notice nor traditional visitation and other funeral formalities. She emphasized a desire for private, casual gathering of those closest to her, which consisted of her children and her remaining brothers and their wives. She also identified those whom she wanted a notice of her passing to be sent subsequently by personal mail. For those who knew her well, this will be no surprise, since she was a very shy and extremely introverted personality. All who wish to honor her memory are asked to make a donation to any charity of their choice.

Whitson Funeral Home, in Cookeville, is in charge of arrangements.
