Secretary of State presents Grant to the White County Public Library

State of Tennessee Secretary of State Tre Hargett visited the staff and volunteers of the White County Public Library in order to present the Library Technology Training Grant that has been awarded to the library.

Hargett presented the check in the amount of $8,357.40 to Michael Hale, Assistant Director of the White County Public Library, along with State Representative Paul Sherrell.

The Library Technology Training Grant will be utilized by the White County Public Library over the course of the next two years. The funding will be used to expand learning programs at the library. The staff at the library plan to host 60 computer classes to teach basic computer skills to the public free of charge. Some of the funding will be used to purchase 15 new iPads which will be used by the library for the classes.

“This is a great way of giving people good skills that they can use to compete for good jobs.” stated Tre Hargett. “The White County Library has a great facility and does a wonderful job for their community.”

“We appreciate all that you do.” Stated Representative Paul Sherrell regarding the staff at the White County Public Library.

White County Executive Denny Wayne Robinson, White County Finance Director Chad Marcum, and representatives from the Falling Water River Regional Library were also on hand for the presentation of the grant.
