Shirley Mabe, 68, of Sparta, passed away March 4, 2018, at Tennessee Valley Healthcare System – Alvin C. York (Murfreesboro) Campus, in Murfreesboro.
Mr. Mabe was born Jan. 14, 1950, in Sparta, the son of Henry Mabe and Maudie Marie Whitaker Mabe.
He was a Vietnam veteran. He was a loving son, brother, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend.
Mr. Mabe was preceded in death by his parents; son, James Mabe; and brother, Claudie Mabe.
Survivors include daughters, Shirleen (Mabe) and Roger Stewart, of Sparta, Christine (Mabe) Golden and Frankie Taylor, of Rickman, Michelle (Mabe) and Chad Walker, of Rickman; son, Jerry Mabe, of Sparta; 13 grandchildren, Josh Key, Destiny Vickers, Billy Jr. Golden, Dustin Golden, Jordan Golden, Angellica Flowers, Latasha Stockton, James Walker, Chris Walker, Jaden Mabe, Ashlee Mabe, Beth Mabe, Stephanie Mabe; five great-grandchildren, Brooklyn, Bentley, Z. Jay, Carter, Cameron; three brothers, William Mabe, Calvin Mabe, Donnie Mabe; mother of his children, Barbara Mabe; companion, Kathy Smith; son-in-law, Billy Golden; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Mr. Mabe chose cremation, and the family followed his wishes. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
