Sailing in. Jordan Dukes, a sophomore on the Warrior soccer team, sails through after kicking the ball in the 3-0 loss to DeKalb County. The Warriors host Cumberland County today at 6 p.m.

The White County High School soccer team broke into the win column with a 3-1 victory over visiting Cumberland County Monday.  (Look for full details of that win in Thursday’s edition.) WCHS played host to the DeKalb County Tigers on a chilly Thursday spring evening and were defeated 3-0.
The Warriors and Tigers played to a scoreless tie for the first 37:30 of the contest. In fact, WCHS controlled the ball for much of those first 37 minutes and limited the shots on goal by the Tigers.
However, DeKalb County broke the tie with just over two minutes remaining in the first half and then added another goal before time expired on the first period. The Tigers led 2-0 at the half.
The action in the second half went much the same way as the first half. For 37 minutes, the contest was dominated by the defenses with no one giving up a goal. However, in the final three minutes of the game, the Tigers headed the ball into the goal for the third and final score of the contest.
DeKalb County held on for the win and improved to 3-0 on the season.
On Thursday, the Warriors travel to Jackson County for a 6 p.m. contest.
