Sparks Transmission team wins Senior Boys’ Championship

The Sparta Little League Senior 11-12 boys’ league put their finishing touches on the 2018 season, with the championship night, on Friday.

The championship game was played at the Smithville fields. Sparks Transmission fell behind early but was able to battle their way back for a 14-4 win over Tri State Distribution.

Tri State would jump out to an early 4-0 lead after the first half of the inning. However, Sparks would quickly answer back with four runs of their own to tie the game up at 4-4. Sparks would then take control of the game in the second inning and never look back.

Sparks would score three runs in the second inning, three runs in the third inning, and the team would put the game away in the fourth inning when they scored four runs to win by a final score of 14-4.

For Tri State, Preston Pionke, Silas Pursly, and Austin P would reach base in both of their at-bats. Jack Everett, Isiah Kelso, Aiden White, and Riley Moore would also reach base.

For Sparks, Kason Seal and Devin Johnson would both reach base three times. Eli Scoggins, Kade Sparks, Jonathan Boswell, Jeffery Brock, Colen Brock, Braxton Maheney, and Malachi Brown would also reach base.

For Sparks, Malachi Brown got the start on the mound, and Eli Scoggins would come in relief for Brown.

For Tri-State, Silas Pursly would get the start ,and Collin Price would come in relief.

After the game, the coaches had voted on All-Star for the league. The Little League All-Stars will travel to Smith County to play in an All-Star tournament on June 21-22. The All-Stars were Preston Pionke, Malachi Brown, Trenton Wilson, Jeffery Brock, Collin Price, Jonathan Boswell, Kason Seal, Kaden Sanders, Max Baker, Jackson Young, Eli Scoggins, Gabriel Baker, and John Isaac Baker.
