Onward. Movies will live on at Sparta Drive-In under the direction of new operators Tommy and Judy Brown. L-R: Tommy Brown, daughter Katelyn Brown, Judy Brown, and Ross and Brenda Cardwell, owners of the drive-in property.

White Countians can now wipe those looks of sadness from their faces with the announcement last week that Sparta Drive-In is remaining in business.
Tommy Brown, manager of the business for five years, has officially taken over the operation of the facility. Brown and his wife Judy, along with their teenage daughter Katelyn, will be running the 50-plus-year-old landmark.
The Browns will be leasing the property from longtime owners Ross and Brenda Cardwell. Tommy is busily taking care of the business aspects of the changeover, such as purchasing the equipment and securing the movie contracts from the various companies. He also said the facility will remain a family-oriented atmosphere.
Sparta Drive-In is now closed for the winter season, but will reopen in April 2009.
The theater is located at 220 Roberts-Matthews Highway.
