When people think golf, in Middle Tennessee, they don’t always think of Van Buren County, or specifically Fall Creek Falls golf course.
If anyone hasn’t visited these beautiful rolling fairways of the mountain in a while, then pack your clubs and take a trip. The manicured, lush challenges that make up this gem of a course in the heart of Fall Creek Falls State Park are a part of the lure of this outdoor attraction.
There are angles, sand, and water hazards to make each hole a bit more memorable than the next. The grounds crews have been attentive to each blade of grass, and the hard work has produced a remarkable destination for golfers of all levels.
The pro shop is stocked with any item that a golfer would need to compete for 18 holes. Hats, shirts, shoes, balls, and gloves are just a few items for sale. The grill is open for those needing a fill up or to quench a thirst with a variety of beverages.
Something special happens on the par three holes, on Fridays. It is subtle, yet powerful. The flags of yellow, which usually mark each hole, are replaced by a pink banner in remembrance of those who have battled breast cancer.
Once a month, the sun goes down, and the peeps come out at night. It is glow-in-the dark golf – a totally different experience for golfers of all levels of expertise. The flags are replaced by translucent poles. The carts have special neon lighting, and the balls are illuminated by glow inserts for easy tracking and location. No chance of sunburn or heat stroke during this round of golf.
“Course in great shape. Fun friendly staff especially the ladies in the snack bar. Will return again soon,” was a recent review by S.W. on the Facebook page.
