Feb. 9, 2018-Aug. 23, 2018

Sunny Adair Davis passed away shortly after noon, on Aug. 23, 2018. Although his life on the earth was short, Baby Sunny was a blessing to his family, friends, and to the countless others who prayed for him from the moment he began his life, on Feb. 9, 2018.

The journey with Sunny wasn’t always easy, but it was incredibly beautiful. Baby Sunny beat the odds and was born 15 weeks early at Erlanger Hospital. When Sunny took his first breath, there was no doubt that he was fearfully and wonderfully made. His family is so thankful to have had the opportunity to hug, rock, read, and sing to him. They were also blessed with countless miracles as Sunny grew from a 1 lb. 6 oz. baby to a strong 14-pound warrior. His big brown eyes matched those of his sister, Layla; his sweet gentle spirit was like his mother; and his strong, never-give-up, attitude was just like his father. He fought hard, but his tiny lungs were unable to sustain his life. However, his sweet footprint in this world can never be denied. Sunny was a charmer from day one. He quickly caught the hearts of his doctors, nurses, grandparents, aunts, and uncles, especially his “Sissy Megan” and two sweet cousins, Madalyn and Ruthie.

Sunny is survived by his loving parents, Matt and Rachel Davis, and a beautiful sister, Layla; grandparents, David and Janie McBride, Les and Regina Davis; great-grandfather, Pete Walling; aunts and uncles, Megan McBride Dodson and Patrick, David Davis and Sherry, Pete Davis and Tammy, Elaine Coats, and Michael Davis; and many cousins.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m., Aug. 25, 2018, at Oak Lawn Funeral Home, with burial in Jericho Cemetery. Donald Haston will officiate. The family will receive friends 11 a.m.-2 p.m., Aug. 25, at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, a fund called “Sunny’s Purpose” has been set up at Citizens Bank, in Sparta. Throughout Sunny’s life, the Davis family has been blessed with an outpouring of support. It is their desire to bless others in time of need in honor of their little Sunshine.

Oak Lawn Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
