Tandy Cherry “Moe” Emerton

Tandy Cherry “Moe” Emerton, 80 of Sparta, passed away Sept. 20, 2017, at Signature Health Care in Algood.

Mr. Emerton was born Feb. 16, 1937, in Clay County, to Ashel Emerton and Martha Boles Emerton.

He was a longtime employee of the City of Sparta and a White County constable, as well as a farmer and logger. He was a proud father and grandfather.

Mr. Emerton was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Reba Jo Parks Emerton; three children, Rufus Lee Emerton, Brenda Sue Emerton, Carolyn Ann Emerton; brother, Andy Jerry Emerton; and sister, Donna Parks.

Survivors include two sons, Lonnie Emerton and wife Carole, Junior Emerton; grandchildren, Amanda Dachoute and husband Pierre, Patricia Dashnaw; great-grandchildren, Zachary, Joah, Logan, Taylor and Gracie Dashnaw, Emmalee and Anna Kate Holder, Bella, Hannah and Makayla Dachoute; sister, Leona Sherrill; and special nephew, Jackie Emerton.

Funeral service will was 11 a.m., Sept. 23, 2017, at Hunter Funeral Home, with burial in Turkey Town Cemetery, in Clay County. Rich Morgan officiated.

Joah Dashnaw, Logan Dashnaw, Pierre Dachoute, Tom Kincaid, Ronnie Brock and Marcus Parks served as pallbearers.

Hunter Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
