TBI investigating death of detainee at White County Jail

According to Susan Niland, public information officer with Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, at the request of 13th District Attorney General Bryant Dunaway, TBI agents are investigating an in-custody death that occurred Thursday, Dec. 27, 2018, in White County.

Preliminary information indicates a vehicle crashed and rolled over in DeKalb County. A passenger from the vehicle was located just over the county line in White County. Initial reports indicate that when White County deputies attempted to detain the individual, he started to assault the officers and a taser was deployed. The subject was handcuffed and transported to the jail. When the deputy arrived at the jail, the individual was unresponsive. He was transported to the White County Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. Efforts remain underway to positively identify him. The investigation continues to be active and ongoing.

    What are they doing to identify him, was he covered in tattoos
