August 27, 2015 – September 2, 2015

WHITE COUNTY, SR-111 (Spencer Hwy.) repair of bridge over Calfkiller River (LM 6.37) in Sparta: Work on this project continues. The contractor will be pressure washing and texture coating the bridge during this report period. Flaggers will assist with traffic control as necessary. WHITE COUNTY, SR-111 installation of an overhead sign structure at U.S. 70S (SR-1, LM 3.39): The contractor, subcontractors and TDOT personnel met on site August 10, 2015 to verify field elevations for the new overhead sign structure. The contractor will begin work once the shop drawings of the structure have been approved. Work will consist of removing portions of the existing median barrier rail and lengthening the existing structure before the new sign is placed. All motorists should use extreme caution and be alert to construction equipment and vehicles on the project. The contractor may have short-term lane closures to perform various operations on an as-needed basis. Flaggers will assist with traffic control as necessary. WHITE AND PUTNAM COUNTIES, SR-111 resurfacing from north of SR-136 in White County (LM 17.43) to north of SR-136 in Putnam County (LM 2.03): Work on this project continues. The contractor will conduct milling and paving operations on the shoulders for the SR-136 on- and off-ramps in each direction during this report period. The contractor will have temporary ramp closures to complete paving operations on an as needed basis. Message boards and arrow boards are installed to assist traffic with upcoming lane closures and warning motorists in advance of lane shifts. Motorists should use caution and be alert to construction equipment and vehicles within the work zone. Estimated project completion is September 2015. [Tinsley Asphalt, LLC/Sorrelle/CNP111]

VAN BUREN COUNTY, SR-111 grading, drainage, and paving from south of Manus Road to south of SR-285 near Double Bridge Road: Work on this project continues. Utilities are currently being installed. Grading and blasting operations continue and the contractor is addressing the slope with removal of unsuitable material and installing graded solid rock within the construction zone. Motorists should expect periodic delays. Flaggers will be present during progression of work. Motorists should use caution and be alert to construction equipment and vehicles within the work zone. The speed limit has been reduced to 45 MPH and is being enforced. Estimated project completion date is spring 2016. [Jones Bros., Inc. /Parnham & Price/CNM266]

DEKALB COUNTY, SR-26 (U.S. 70) construction of a welded steel plate girder bridge and three retaining walls over the Caney Fork River and Sligo Road (LM 24.58): Work on this project continues. A new traffic transition has been established leading to the new bridge, and all traffic is now using the new bridge. The contractor will soon begin work on retaining wall 3. On the old bridge, the contractor will soon begin the process to remove the existing bridge deck and structure, and this work will continue over the next few months. All motorists are advised to use extreme caution to the changed conditions and observe all message boards, signs and reduce speed when traveling through the work zone. Be cautious and alert to construction personnel and equipment entering and exiting the work zone. Flaggers will be on site to assist with traffic control. DEKALB COUNTY, SR-141 slide repair between log mile 0.93 and log mile 1.10, including grading, drainage and paving: Work on this project continues. During construction, the roadway will be closed to traffic for the safety of the traveling public due to the instability of the roadway. The contractor has installing erosion control measures and placing the turbidity curtain. Additional message boards and temporary construction signs have been installed to alert traffic to the road closure. Detours are marked. Estimated project completion date is December 2015. PUTNAM COUNTY, SR-56 bridge repair over I-40 at MM 273 (LM 0.54): Work on this project has been completed, and the project is awaiting final inspection. Estimated project completion is August 2015. [Jamison Construction, LLC/Sorrelle/CNN322]

PUTNAM COUNTY, SR-84 slide mitigation at LM 10.5 and LM 11.0, including grading drainage and paving: Work on this project continues. SR-84 is now closed to through traffic in this area because a section of the roadway has become unstable. In the interest of public safety, the roadway will remain closed until it is determined that it is safe to reopen. The contractor continues to work under 24 hour operations to open the roadway at the soonest convenience to the motoring public. Detour routes are marked and all motorists are advised to use approved detours during this time. Estimated project completion is October 2015. [J&M Grading Division, LLC/Sorrelle/CNN169]

PUTNAM COUNTY, Construction of a State Industrial Access Road (Bennett Road) serving Project Victor, including grading, drainage and paving: Work on this project continues. The contractor will be installing signs, working on erosion control measures and mobilizing equipment. All motorists should use caution and be alert to construction equipment and vehicles on the project. Flaggers will assist with traffic control as necessary. Estimated project completion is June 2016.
